The Ruins and Trees, lots of trees

This is a huge pictoral post.
And, I am lazy and not copy and pasting them so they are in the right order.
So, you are seeing the end first,
unless you want to scroll down to the bottom and work your way up.

I am sorry for the amount of trees.

And the amount of trees growing out of rock.
I was enthralled.

I am a sucker for trees anyway,
and here they seemed extra pretty.

I hope you don't find it to boring
I decided to post them all

first, because I wanted too

second, because I thought it was beautiful, and maybe you will too.

Enjoy

Where we were

This was the shopping area outside of the ruins.
Cool blankets, eh?

Love this shot

These next two pictures are also some faves of mine...
Sun flare!
This was actually a mayan road they uncovered

This is a termite nest.
It was MASSIVE!!
Bigger than a beach ball

Another of the village buildings

The taxi area
This.......

is what this used to look like.

I was trying to get this shot forever.
Finally, people stayed out of my way.

Ant people

You can see two of the surrounding lakes here.

The very top
These carvings were above the doors

Carvings in the stone

See the little bit of water?
There was apparently 5 lakes around.

Itty Bitty people.
Do you see Donna in the turquoise?

Over the edge

Half-way down.

Half-way up!

Info about it...

The big ruin.
The one I am to climb.

A forest of white Trees.
They really were white.

This is a Mayan Calendar

The mayan Taxis.

We only had so much time to get to the big ruin, and back to the bus.
You could either rent bikes, or take the taxi

We took the taxi.
It cost 5 dollars.

This is one of my favourite pictures.

Remember the game they played in El Dorado?
It's a real Mayan game.
And yes, the losers did in fact make a human sacrifice.

Donna, waiting.
The guy beside her is Steve,
A widower from Alberta.
He travels a lot.
And works for IBEW.

The side battlements.

This was the passageway in, to the right at the end of the hall.
It's the hole under all the pictures of the giant tree growing out of the rocks.

This is what the inside of the ruins used to look like;
Most of the ones found all the colour has worn away.
There have been two ruins found with the clour intact.

The first, smaller ruin we saw.
It was too decrepit to go inside.

Our guide for the ruins.
He's an eco/land specialist.
Forget what they're called.
