Bad, BAD card reader!!

Me, this weekend.

Sorry no new posts.

I was all set to post yesterday about "Christmas in Mexico", but my computer would NOT recognize my card reader. Said the hardware had malfunctioned, and to replace it. And the post needed pictures. Trust me.

So, until I take the card reader back, and get it replaced, no posts.

I have seven hockey games this weekend, so we're likely looking at Monday.

Stay tuned.......

Reality Check

BRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr. Brrr.

Ees cold.

And snowy.

So, we are back. Back to reality. Back to work, and kids, and making our own food. Do you know I went a full week without cooking? I've never done that in my life. Well, since I was twelve, anyway.

It's weird. I didn't want to come home, but I'm sooo glad to be home.

I think if I ever go there with my kids, I will never return. I missed them.

I cleaned a poopy bum within an hour of returning home. Talk about reality check.

But, my Mom had organized a special dinner, and most of my family came over and listened to stories. It was fun. Thanks Mom!

Today was laundry, cleaning, and checking e-mail and messages.
Life went on when I was gone!!! Shocking.

Well, don't forsake this little blog, I have so much yet to tell you. I will keep going till I have nothing left..... at least a couple months.

Buenos Dias

This is inside Donnas sink shop. Lots of cool stuff.

More of the unknown animals.

Another view from the top. I tried to get this picture like 6 thousand times, and somebody always stepped in the way. I finally got a good one, though. Just dont know how to find it.

Ruins and Fan Palms.

We dont know for sure what these are. They are kinda like raccoons, although there are regular raccoons here, too. Only smaller than ours.

This is a pic of the Mayan village we went to.

One of the views from the top of Coba. I took a million of them.

This is on side of the Mayan ball court. Remember El Dorado. They really did play that game. They used a hard leather ball, and were only allowed to hit it with their elbows, hips or feet. If they lost, they had to do a human sacrifice.

This was taken at Coba, the Mayan Ruins. This is a pic of part of the Mayan Road, built in
300 BC.

Waiting to board the ship.

Fighting Pirates

This is our random pic. Actually, they kinda all are. We are never sure what we are going to get.

Amore. Its everywhere.

The Flying Dutchmen, after we trounced her!

Donna and the Captain. She was drooling over him all night. So, at the end, I asked if we could get her picture taken with him. Good thing you cant see her hands.

Sorry we didnt post yesterday. Mui Cassada.

Donna had some adventures with wildlife yesterday.

There was a Tucan down at the pool area, named Baby. I had my picture taken with him.

Then, Donna did. And Baby nearly bit her finger off. It was swollen to twice the size.

Then, in the afternoon, Donna got a lizard on her arm. A Gecko, to be exact. Hes little, and black. His name is Jose. And he is going to live with Donna forever.

Last night we went on the Capitan Hook tour. It was in Cancun. We boarded a Spanish Galleon, Th Black Pearl, and sailed the Caribean Sea while watching entertainment and eating Lobster and Steak. And drinking rum. Well, Donna anyway.

At the end of the trip we had a fight with The Flying Dutchmen. With cannons and swords. The pirates were jumping from ship to ship..... it was all very exciting.

We won, of course.

We got back about midnight, and were tooooooo tired to post.

Today we packed this morning. Very sad. There was tears.

We check out at noon, and our transport to the airport comes at 5. Then, we sit in the Mexican Airport for four and a half ours, till we fly out at 9 40. We will arrive in Toronto at 130, Ontario time. Its longer coming back than it is to go. Weird, huh.

So, think of us tonight, cramped in a tiny plane. And coming back to snow.

We love you. See you soon.

Buenos Noches

The other random pic. Chosen by Heather, with eyes closed. Scroll down to see why.
The horse was a thousand years old, by the way. Oldest horse in the Yucatan.

Random Picture. because we are having such a terrible time uploading the pics we want, we thought wed do a random shot. This is the one Donna chose, with her eyes closed. It is when we were entering the airport in Toronto. Shes already bossing me around.

Heather Enjoying El Diablo. Coffee with cinnamon. Mmmmmmmm.

Donnas sink is in here. Which do you think it is?

The horses. On the beach. Of the Caribbean.

Heading back toward the stables.

So. We spent the day at the beach. Again.

Donna was not feeling well. Too much Tequila. (Sun. Or heat. Or tequila.)

So, we lounged all day. It was awesome.

The Caribbean Ocean is as warm as bath water. The waves were really high today. It was awesome. And when I say warm, I mean it. I just walked right in. And those that know me, know that it takes me forever to get in the water. Here, I just walk right in. Amazing.

Yesterday was incredible. And exhausting. We left at 7 and returned at 6. It is going to take a day to tell all about it, and show pics. Donnas crotch is sore. So is mine. We will tell you about it later.

On the plane. Dos Amigas.

Ola

Sooooooooooooo very tired today. We went to a Mayan village, Mayan ruins, we ziplined over a lagoon filled with crocs, repelled 60 feet into a cenote, which is a cave filled with the clearest, most beautiful water, which we swam in. Mui cassada. Or, very tired.

So, short post today.

I guess we are actually on yesterday, Wednesday.

Yesterday we went to Playa del Carmen. It is the fastest growing city in the world, in fact it won the Guinness Book of World Records award for fastest growing city in 2006. Ill explain more about that later.

We shopped. Boy, did we shop. A forty ouncer of Tequila, which is normally $53 in Canada, was $9. Thats not a typo. $9. Craziness.

We were so loaded down at the end of the day, we felt like pack mules.

We bought a little bit of everything.

Including the Kitchen sink.

Well, its actually a bathroom sink.

Yes, its true. Donna bought a sink.

I may not be coming home, as Donna might need my seat on the plane for her precious sink.

The sink is so precious, that Donna left the store, cradling it ever so gently. We walked to an outdoor cafe. Donna goed to pay, and says, Where is my purse. Sorry no punctuation, the keys arent working.

Anyway, Donna was soooo pleased with her purchase, she didnt see the need for her purse anymore, as she had bought everything her heart desired.

James, she actually ran back as fast as lightning, and actually, ignore the first part. She didnt leave her purse at all..........

But seriously, the sink is worth it.

So picture us, walking through downtown, loaded down not only with a gazillion bags, but a sink.

Only we would do this.

Its what makes us special. And the first store Heather went into she broke a big glass, which
brought every one in the store running. So, she now owns one broken shot glass..... she is embarassing.... and then her big shopping bag just about cleared a shelf. She nearly came home with 40 broken mexican men. Christmas shopping was very close to being done.

We very nearly missed the ride home. We were the only Loco Touristas on the twelve passenger taxi\van.

Oh well. More room for the Tequila.

We need to post a kazillion pictures for the horse riding post, so we will need about 3 more months to do it from here.

Please send money now.

Our, I will post from home. Your choice.

Ive uploaded three different pictures, all the wrong ones. So, you will have to wait till I have more sleep, or less tequila, for me to have the patience to add pics.

Sorry.

Maybe tomorrow.

Love you all.

Itinarary

Our booking Agent

Beautiful Flower. Just because.

We are booked into 3 events. Tuesday was horsebackriding through the jungle, onto the beach. Pictures and post about that maybe tonight.

Today we are going shopping in Playa del Carmen, a world renowned beach market.

Thurs, we are going to Coba, to see the tallest mayan ruin in Mexico, to ziplining, to rappel, to swim in a natural fresh water pool, explore caves, and visit a mayan village.

Friday we don´t know what we are doing.

Saturday, we are going on a real pirate ship for dinner and dancing, and to have a real pirate battle. With cannons. On the Caribbean Sea. Just call Donna Captain Sparrow.

Pool Side

There is six pools here. These pics are from our favourite. Right next to the beach, bar, and restaurant.

Palm trees are everywhere. It is a gorgeous pool. Not deep though, only about 4 feet. But nice.

Donna is training me to not point. There are many topless chicks, and I feel the need to point them out. This, for some reason, embarrasses Donna. Also, many, many banana hammocks. All old guys. Why. Why they feel they should wear a strip of fabric no bigger than their sock, we will never understand.

Our bistro set. Where we sat waiting to be rescued.

The plane

I had a window seaqt, right above the wing. Donna sat in the middle. (ugh,) The man beside her fell asleep and kept leaning. Yucky. This is the veiw out my window.

In the waiting area, wondering when the heck our plane will leave. This is about when we were supposed to be taking off.

Getting Here

This is part of the Swiss Chalet in the airport. We stopped here for a Margarita. It was called the Roost.

Donna and Hayden on the way to the airport.

Our flight.

The line up at the airport.

Disclaimer: I am stupid and chose the wrong pictures. And, I don´t know how to delete. Everything is in Spanish, and the keyboard is stupid, with glued-on letters.

New post below.

Adeena, tell me how to delete pics. Please.

Carry-on.

We are here.

Finally.

Our flight was an hour late. And was long. And I starved. Donna didn´t. She got a crust a bread.

Our flight was SkyService, and was very economy. Very. Tight.

We stepped off the plane to a cool 80 degrees, with a delicious breeze. Gorgeous.

So, we get here, and the resort is beautiful. It was only about 25 min. from the airport, so not bad.

Gorgeous lobby, which I will post pics of tomorrow.

When we walked in the check-in guy said the restaurant was almost closed, so we went to eat first. Buffet was good. This was about 11 pm.

By this time we are absolutely exhausted, so we checked in, got a ride to our room, and started to explore. On the way up we met a drunk girl who said, ¨"A word of warning girls, don´t go out on your balcony and shut the door. I´m locked out.¨"

We found the room to be nice and roomy, gorgeous bathroom and huge shower. A family could shower in there with room top spare.

And the balcony. We stepped out to check it out, and I was admiring the beautiful veiw, when I heard the door sliding shut. I screeched,"DON¨T SHUT THE DOOR!"

Two guesses what happened. Yes. We doubled over killing ourselves laughing. It was either that or cry.

So, we hung over the balcony wailing, but nobody was around.

And so. I scaled the barrier between rooms, hanging on for dear life to the thatched roof, While Donna said, "Do you want me to hold on to you?" I declined, as I was mostly there, already up on the railing. Oh, and this is three floors up.

Donna was very supportive and said, "Don´t look down!"

I went to tap on the patio door, and Donna hissed, ¨Don´t look in!! What if they´re naked?" Which made me feel totally comfortable doing this.

Well, I freaked out the lady in the bathrobe, but at least she wasn´t naked. It was her husband in the shower who was.

She called down, and we eventually got back into our room.

We sat on the balcony after that, with the door wide open, and sipped champagne and enjoying the balmy tropical breeze.

So ended day one.
